Well, this is the first Sunday of the Advent Celebration. What this means is that we have already eaten too much at Thanksgiving, watched our traditional college football show downs and are now preparing our hearts for the true reason we celebrate this season.
Each Sunday we will light another candle as we approach Christmas to remember and keep us focused in the midst of all the hustle and bustle that can happen this time of year.
This afternoon, I searched around my home for some candle sticks and other items we had around the house to serve this special purpose. When I found the pillar candles I was thrilled. I also found a red candle that I had stored in the candle area. This is the area where candles go to live our their days until …
Funny thing happened this morning, I was commenting on these candles sticks, reflecting on where we got them and how each one had a special meaning. Although they did not go with the other decor, they were perfect to all come together for this for this very unique purpose. Isn’t that like the body of Christ? We all play our unique part in the Kingdom of God.
Next it was time for the greenery. I didn’t have an extra wreath around the house, but I do have some lovely magnolia trees. It finally hit me that this is the perfect combination for a southern advent display, at least for this self-professed modern-day southern belle.
Regardless of how you focus on the true meaning of the season, my prayer is that you first receive the love of God and know what it means to be unconditionally loved. If you don’t know what I am referring to, find a message translation of the bible and read the new testament this season. This is the best gift you can give yourself this season. When you read this with an open heart, you will discover what your heart and soul have been longing for. It is never to late or to early to connect or reconnect with God. Now is always the perfect time!
Much love to you!
